S'more Pinterest Lovin'

So, those of you who know me know I may be a wee bit obsessed with S'mores.  

 

Just a wee bit.  And since the onset of Pinterest,  I've curated quite the little Pinterest board dedicated to this obsession...And not just your run of the mill S'mores...the most fantastic of all S'mores recipes. You can follow it here:

As of right now, I have over 540 unique and spectacular S'mores pins on my board, t least double of any other Pinterest board on the topic so...imagine my delight when my board was mentioned over on this blog: HERE!  I was getting tons of new followers and couldn't figure out why, but now I know!  Many of these blogs have more followers than me, but NONE have more pins on this subject than me...(I love being an expert in a field, lol).

OMG! A Multi Photo Layout!

August Inspiration Unlimited

You may recall that the purpose of this challenge group isto take our scrapbooking to the next level, to stretch our creative process and to grow as artists by embracing challenges that make us think, work and grow. You can view all of the challenges our new Inspiration Elevator Blog, here.

This month, the very creatively-minded Christa issued the challenge and here's what she wrote:

Part of growth is learning new techniques. And I do mean NEW. Sometimes we are afraid to try something or get in a rut..but for the August reveal I am asking that you find a technique WITH a video and include the link in your post. Learn something new. Share where you learned it and then share what you learned and your creation. I hope this is challenging for you...it might take some time to think about!

 

I was pretty excited about this assignment!  I love searching Pinterest and YouTube for technique videos...so off I went to Pinterest...I found this fantastic video by Rahel Menig on Glitter Splattering and it really interested me because I've always wondered how to make more of a splatter than a mist.  I've used the misters the way she showed but her glue and glitter technique was totally fun to try...so watch the video and then join me after to see what I created...

I used watered down Mod Podge and a paintbrush to splatter the glue mix before adding glitter to my page.  I tried a couple different techniques from throwing the glue mix to splattering it, to adding a little puddle...and this is what I came up with...

and this is how I used it on my page...

I totally love how it turned out!!!  I used My Mind's Eye Follow Your Heart papers and embellies for the page, and just some goldish, opalescent glitter.  I can't wait to try this again...and I really want to try her spray paint technique too!  So much fun to try a new technique..thank you Christa for the inspiration. :)

Pretty Little Shares

Just catching up on some Pretty Little Studio work that Typepad wouldn't let me share while I was locked out..lol..

All of these were created with the new Nature Walk collection...oh how I love this collection!! The animals are so sweet and I just love the neutral colors with little pops of bright!

 

and this last one, a labor of love...took so long to piece it together!

 

Hope you're enjoying the last bits of summer...we are just a few days out from the first day of school here.  My youngest is starting middle school (sob!) and my middle her Junior year...and 15 days till our oldest moves off to college (double sob!)  Trying to eek out the last bits of family time!

Summertime and the living is....BUSY!

And while it's super busy around here, I am quite honestly SUPER happy that there is no homework and the struggle to pack lunches and get three girls out the door at 7:25am.  Here's some of the highlights of the last few weeks...

This girl...

**Turned 16!!  She only wanted a bigger bed and frame so, off to IKEA we went...

And this was the final decision...

a new Full Size bed with frame..she couldn't quite let her old bedding go, but it works as a little blanket at the foot so we kept it. 

Other than that, she has been keeping somewhat busy doing this..

Which is, working as a  student teacher at the dance camp held at her dance studio. :)

This girl...

Has been busy with a sewing class at our somewhat local Joanns.  She sewed a fully lined tote bag with two pockets, a makeup bag with zipper, a pillow case, a pillow sham and this adorable denim skirt ALL by herself!!

So proud of her!  And the week before last, she was busy with dance camp..

and the best part was the awards ceremony where she won the award for "Best Technique"...of which we are VERY proud!!

And not to be forgotten, this girl..

has hung at the beach with friends (not very warm there!)..

thrown a Roaring 20's themed Murder Mystery party..

That involved full costumes, hair styles etc...she LOVED it!

and last night, received a very generous scholarship from JVS for college..SO proud of her!!  

We are very busy packing, planning and trying to figure out what she needs for college...she leaves in less than a month (sob!) and there is so much to do!  

So that is an update in a nutshell..me, I'm just busy managing all of the above activities and working as much as possible (have to pay for said college!) while juggling DT deadlines..speaking of which, I have a blog post up over at Pretty Little Studios today... showing this cute card and a few other projects..

Inspiration Elevator July Challenge

This month's challenge is issued by the super talented, Lisa Moen. Here's what she had to say in her very own words:

"I have been thinking lately, that I have only done one layout of my childhood and realized that maybe some day, my kids or grandkids would enjoy looking at a few more pages and learning about my siblings, my parents and I.
So my challenge for you this month is to create a page about a childhood memory of yours. It can be a good, a bad, a funny, a photoless or whatever you choose kind of layout.

Just remember to add journaling to tell the story behind your childhood memory.
Can't wait to see your projects!"

While I have scrapped many pictures from my childhood, even as recently as last week, I'm always up to take another photo out of the large baggie and get it in my album.  I do have an album just for myself and I love that my girls learn more about me every time they look through it.  For this layout, I chose to use a photo of my Dad, my brother and me about to do a very quintessential summer activity for our family, river rafting in Lake Tahoe.  I have very fond memories of those times and have enjoyed sharing them with my children, too!

I selected this fun Pebbles paper line, and added a few embellishments from the line, too.  I rediscovered a rub on bin in my recent scraproom overhaul and found these cool ones from Chatterbox (in the upper right hand corner). I also found an older Jolee oar that I added to my title block. Had to add some sequins (reminds me of the sparkles on the lake and river during the day) and some Studio Calico hearts to finish it off...and there you have it!

July Little Red Scrapbook projects

I've posted my July Little Red Scrapbook projects on the Little Red Blog but I thought I'd share here, too. :)

I actually got to do a Project Life spread this month, using the kit..and I LOVE it.  I chose to do my spreads monthly this year, and for May, it's actually broken down by child since each one was so busy!  Here is the left side of Jillian's spread.

Hidden journaling in the cellophane pocket, some tucked into the envelope, stolen Instagrams and Twitter photos...all complete this layout for her.

Dusting off the cobwebs for a share...

Hey there!!!  I'm hearing echos...lol...my poor blog!  Typepad was being difficult (due to an address problem on paypal's site!) and had me locked out of my dashboard for almost a month..but I'm BACK! I've missed blogging so much and so much as happened!

I'm so honored and excited to be invited back for a second term with this WONDERFUL company and design team!!  I absolutely LOVE working with Pretty Little Studios products and the ladies on this team are the BEST!
